We’re excited to share a major step in Heaton Vences’ journey — tax specialist and adviser, Nish Mistry, has joined as Co-Founder.
This marks another milestone in our founder-led growth model — where expert accountants join us as co-founders to lead their own client relationships, backed by HV’s systems, team, and ethos. It means our clients continue to work directly with decision-makers who understand what it means to run a business — not layers of managers.
Nish brings a rare mix of hands-on tax expertise, board-level commercial thinking, and a track record of delivering real cash outcomes for clients—from creators and high-net-worth individuals to mid-market companies turning over £200m+. Most importantly, he shares our founder-led, plain-English approach: less theatre, more outcomes.
Why Nish?
Over the last eight years, Nish has built a word-of-mouth portfolio of clients who trust him with their most sensitive decisions. Alongside that private practice, he’s delivered tax and advisory projects inside large organisations—transfer pricing, group structuring, and complex HMRC interactions—and he stays involved until funds hit the bank.
One example from his corporate work: he identified and executed a tax strategy worth £450,000 in a single quarter for a London group—money the client actually received, not just a theoretical number on a slide.
What we value most is his mindset:
- Founder energy: direct, practical, accountable.
- Tax as a growth lever: pricing, hiring, investment and cash are considered together—not in silos.
- Outcome-first: he measures success in cash saved, risk reduced and decisions made with confidence.
Nish represents the type of founder we’re proud to bring into HV — specialist, commercial, and hands-on from start to finish.
Why This Matters for Our Clients
Heaton Vences has always believed founders should work with founders.
As we grow through our HV Hub model, we’re bringing in more specialists like Nish — each a co-founder in their own right — to deepen our expertise while keeping the personal, direct relationships that define us.
This means that in the months ahead, many of our existing and new clients will work directly with Nish on all things tax and strategy, supported by the wider HV team.
You’ll still get the same founder-led experience — just with even more specialist firepower behind it.
What Nish Will Lead at Heaton Vences
Nish will lead our tax-led advisory, helping founders align their tax planning, compliance, and cash flow with everyday decisions around hiring, pricing, funding, and expansion.
His remit includes:
- Strategic Tax Planning (UK): corporation tax, dividends, remuneration, loss relief, capital allowances and R&D (with a strong emphasis on robust documentation).
- Group & Cross-Border Considerations: transfer pricing frameworks, intercompany flows, and practical steps for UK-headquartered firms exploring new markets.
- Cash-First Advisory: turning tax planning into cash impact—timelines, reserves, forecasting and HMRC interactions that reduce surprises.
- Founder Support: scenario-planning for “what if” moments—new hires vs contractors, pricing resets, or investment decisions.
All of this slots into our live-data model—management information first, tax strategy layered on top—so advice reflects what’s actually happening in your numbers, not last year’s accounts.
What You’ll Notice
More firepower where it counts. You’ll see:
1) Faster, clearer answers on tax-heavy decisions
2) Stronger HMRC posture
3) Tax strategy that supports growth
How We’ll Work Together
Founders don’t need long reports; they need decisions. Our joint approach is simple:
- Map the decision. What are you trying to do—hire, invest, restructure, expand?
- Run the numbers. Live cash flow, tax outcomes, and risk notes side-by-side.
- Agree the steps. Who files what, when money moves, how we evidence it.
- See it through. We stay involved until the outcome lands.
About Nish (the human bit)
Nish lives in Hertfordshire with his family. He cut his teeth in startups before moving into tax consulting for high-growth businesses and notable individuals. He loves meeting clients in person (often over good food), believes in showing up until the job is done, and brings the same founder-level accountability we built Heaton Vences on.
